Che-Hsin Liang Hybrid Si waveguide integration by Ultra-thin DVS-BCB Adhesive Bonding

Processing of vertical waveguide integration using III-V semiconductor and silicon on insulator (SOI) heterogeneous structure has been developed in this work. The CF4 of reactive ion etching (RIE) is used to selectively undercut etch the underneath Si material from top III-V waveguide structure, enabling independent processing for hybrid integration template.

Yi-Hsun Chen Low-Temperature Direct Wafer Bonding for III–V Semiconductors to Si Wafers and PL Measurement.

In this paper, we use the direct bonding to design and fabricate the III-V semiconductor laser, after the oxygen plasma enhanced process, we present the result of low temperature assist direct bonding process between InP and SOI. Finally, we use photoluminescence(PL) to measure the epitaxial layer.

Chi-Hong Huang Realization of tunable optical interleavers on silicon photonics platform

We have fabricated the Mach-zehnder interferometers and asymmetric directional couplers using silicon photonic multi-project foundry service and utilized it as optical interleavers. We investigated the variation of pass-band characteristics and extinction ratio with the coupling coefficients. The channel wavelength could be shifted by using thermal tuning.

Yi-Hsuan Tseng Bend Phase Effect on Broadband Splitter through Mach-Zehnder Directional Coupler

The bend structures of siliconwire based Mach-Zehnder directional coupler (MZDC) will contribute significant phase up to 30% for two directional couplers (DCs) and its crosstalk degrades up to 7.5-dB of MZDC constructed optical filters. The appropriate phase compensation is needed using the straight coupling in DC.

Hung Ching Chung Ultracompact Silicon Polarization Splitter-Rotator using Fast Quasiadiabatic Dynamics

We propose an ultracompact silicon mode-conversion polarization splitter-rotator which is consisted of a taper designed by fast quasiadiabatic dynamics and an asymmetrical directional coupler. The total length of the device is 38.6 um, and the device has a bandwidth of 100 nm with >81.5% TM0-TE0 coupling
