Yu Siang Wang Fabrication and Measurement of Directly Modulated Distributed Feedback Lasers

A high-speed DML is fabricated and analyzed for applications in optical transmitters of large data rate. We fabricated the DFB lasers based on the AlInGaAs/InP material with a peak wavelength around 1310 nm. The lasers can have 28.34 mW output power and a resonant frequency larger than 17 GHz.

Ming Chang Shih Parametric Laser Emission Characteristics of a Semiconductor Circular Laser Diode

We present the output characteristics of a semiconductor laser diode, and shows that parametric laser emission can be excited by strong emission of the circular ring resonator due to optical nonlinearity, measurements of light-current and spectral analysis are used to explore the hybrid characteristics of resonant modes and parametric modes.

Seunghwan Ko Passive Q-switching of a 1-µm Fiber Laser Using Bulk-like WTe2 Particles

We experimentally demonstrated the use of a saturable absorber based on bulk-like WTe2 particles for the implementation of a Q-switched 1-µm fiber laser. The modulation depth of the prepared saturable absorber (SA) was measured as ~2.18 % at 1.03 µm. Using the SA, stable Q-switched pulses were readily achieved.

Yu-Cheng Huang The influence of laser properties by varying the mode-overlap ratio in a diode-end-pumped solid-state laser

Optimized mode-overlap between pump-mode and cavity-mode is one of the main issues that influence the laser properties. In this article, a diode-end-pump solid state laser was used to observe the scene by changing the cavity length and radius of curvature-mirror to achieve the variation of mode-overlap ratio.

Jia-Ren Zou Design of high efficient DFB laser using the integration of high coupling Si grating

A ultra-small size (150μm) multiple quantum well (MQW) DFB laser bonded on a high efficiency grating fabricated on silicon-on-insulator(SOI) substrate has been designed. Low threshold current of 3(mA) and high efficiency of 0.37 (W/A) can be both approached. This light source has high potential to apply on photonic integrated circuit.

Chu-Yuan Hsu Optimization of Perovskite Based Surface-Plasmon-polariton Nanolasers.

In this study, we have numerically studied the laser characteristics of perovskite nanowires placed on the four kinds of metal substrates. Surface plasmonic mode dispersion curves, transparency gains, and quality factors were calculated. Numerical results show that Ag and Al substrates are appropriate candidates in developing the novel perovskite nanolasers.

Hsin-Yao Chou Multi-wavelength Passively Q-switched Er-doped Fiber Laser with a Semiconductor Saturable Absorber

A multi-wavelength passively Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber is demonstrated. Multiple wavelength Q-switched states can be achieved by adjusting the pump power and the polarization controllers. An interesting internal correlated power oscillation phenomenon is found between the individual wavelengths for the dual wavelength Q-switched states.

2 micron laser has certain characteristics and applications that visible and near infrared lasers cannot provide as good, such as environmental survey, monitor, hazard prevention and rescue, free-space transmission, IR-LiDAR, cutting and jointing in manufacture, biomedical application, etc. In this study, we have a try on Poly(methyl methacrylate) sintering.
