Sin-Hao Cai Award Candidate Deep Learning for Complex Defect Inspection of Glass Substrate

We present an inspection method based on deep learning for defect classification of glass substrate by using complex wavefronts measurement in digital holographic microscopy. The proposed inspection performed on convolutional neural network can achieve high accuracy of classifying defects, such as dust, crack and watermark, on the glass substrate.

Chia-Hsun Liu Award Candidate Development of a novel cylindrical vector polarization interferometer

This study develops a novel cylindrical vector polarization interferometer to measure the object surface profile. It is based on the features of spatial variation of axial symmetry of cylindrical vector beams' polarization states. This method has the advantages of a simple structure, ease of installation and operation, and rapid measurement.

Hsuan-Hsuan Wen Award Candidate Recording of Stereoscopic Holograms by Optical Scanning Holography

In digital holographic display, the viewing angle is inversely proportional to the pixel size of hologram. Here we proposed a novel stereoscopic holographic technique to solve this problem. We applied optical scanning holography to record two holograms at different viewing angles, and display them on an amplitude-modulation spatial light modulator.

Tien-Shou Yeh Award Candidate Deformation Effect in a Pupil Display System Based on Waveguide Holograms

A pupil display system based on the computer-generated hologram and waveguide hologram is presented. A deformation effect of the virtual image in the system is induced by the waveguide hologram. The deformation effect is analyzed and corrected with digital correction in the experiments.

Xuan-En Hong Award Candidate Effective approach for the measurement of 2nd-order phenomenon

In this study, we measured the complex coherence factor from a partially coherent quasi-monochromatic wavefield based on Van Cittert-Zernike theorem. With spatial light modulator (SLM) as the pseudo double-slit, we effectively saved the later movement and achieved a multiple sampling of the high-order coherence with efficiency and accuracy.
