I-Wei Chiu High-speed Flexible Printed Circuit Boards for 400 Gb/s Optical Transceivers

We design high-speed flexible printed circuit boards (FPCB) to connect transceiver and receiver optical subassemblies with electronic circuit boards for realizing 16x25 GHz optical transceivers. The simulations indicate >28-GHz bandwidth obtainable for the FPCB. Optical transmitters with the FPCB achieve 6.19-dB SNR, 7.83-dB ER, and clearly eye opening at 25Gb/s.

Yu-Han Hung Photonic MMW Recovery Using Nonlinear Period-One Dynamics of Semiconductor Lasers for Coherent Detection in OFDM-RoF Links

Nonlinear period-one dynamics of semiconductor lasers is investigated for the retrieval of a millimeter-wave (MMW) carrier from an OFDM-RoF signal. The retrieved MMW carrier is used as a local oscillator for down-conversion of the OFDM-RoF signal. A down-converted 16-QAM OFDM signal from 32 GHz results in a BER of 1.9×10-9.

De-Yu Chen Fiber-FSO and fiber-wireless convergence systems

A bidirectional fiber-free-space optical (FSO) and fiber-wireless convergence system that uses dual-polarization modulation, vestigial sideband (VSB)–four-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4), and single sideband transmission schemes for hybrid VSB–PAM4/millimeter-wave signal transmission is proposed and demonstrated.

Masaki Uetai All-Optical Modulation Format Conversion From OOK and QPSK to 8QAM using XPM and XGM

We propose a method in which 8QAM optical modulation format is converted from OOK and QPSK by using XPM and XGM in a single SOA. Conversion performances are depending on signal OSNR and accumulated CD.

A high-speed 20 Gb/s PAM4 UWOC link with an afocal scheme for collimated beam diameter reduction/expansion is proposed and demonstrated. Afocal scheme, which can reduce/expand the collimated beam diameter, is adopted to improve the transmission performances of PAM4 UWOC links for different water types.

YI-CHIH WANG DFT/IDFT-free Receiving Scheme for Spread-OFDM Signals Employing Low-sampling-rate ADCs

This paper presents a DFT/IDFT-free receiving scheme for spread-OFDM signals. Leveraging sub-Nyquist sampling and proper sampling delay, the proposed scheme enables each user to receive the requested data without the need for DFT and IDFT; thus, the complexity at receiver can be greatly reduced.
