Kai Hsiang Lin Uniform user performance in VLC system employing multi-carrier CDMA

We experimentally apply MC-CDMA based on OFDM to a 2-meter transmission phosphor-based LED VLC system. MC-CDMA provides highly uniform per-user performances and all user would get enough signal power.

Min Yu 25 Gb/s Delay-Division-Multiplexing OFDMA-PON using ADC with Sub-Nyquist Sampling

The work demonstrates 25-Gb/s downstream in a DDM-OFDMA-PON using an ADC at each ONU with the sampling rate lower than the Nyquist rate (as low as 437.5 MSample/s). Using signal pre-processing at OLT, an ONU with sub-Nyquist sampling does not require extra signal processing to detect the required signals.

Zhouyi Hu Investigation of Duo-Binary Coded PAM Signal Formats for Optical Transmission

We propose and investigate duo-binary coded 7-level/13-level coding pulse amplitude modulation (DB-CPAM) formats for optical fiber transmission. Numerical simulation results show that a 160-Gb/s DB-CPAM signal under a bandwidth limitation of 33 GHz can be successfully transmitted over 2-km standard single mode fiber without pre-compensation.

This paper is a system design and performance evaluation of front-end buffer of Optical Flow Switch based on intelligent scheduling mechanism. We propose an innovative traffic flow scheduling mechanism, through the DPI device awareness of traffic, obtain priority and Level-Length of flow, and use in the smart control of buffer.

Pin-Shuo Hwang Enhanced degenerate four-wave-mixing in the Ta2O5 based micro-ring cavity

The enhanced FWM conversion efficiency of -30dB Ta2O5 ring resonator has been demonstrated under the input power of 6mW. The loss coefficient of Ta2O5 ring is 0.5cm-1 and 50000, respectively. The unload quality factor is estimated to be ~182000.

Jau-Sheng Wang Chlorophyll Fluorescence Spectroscopy Applied to Plant Water Stress

The chlorophyll fluorescence of green leaves, taken at room temperature, show two maxima near 685nm and 735nm. The fluorescence ratio F685/F735 variation in leaves during development or at damage and stress events is determined by the variation in chlorophyll content. The ratio is possible to observe plant water stress.

Hsuan-Hao Liu Accuracy Studies of a Spectral Element Mode Solver for Anisotropic Planar Surface Plasmon Polariton Waveguides

An in-house developed spectral element method is employed to solve the modes on a planar surface plasmon polaritons waveguide structure involving uniaxial dielectric. It is found that the dependence of the degree of accuracy in the modal effective index on the order of Lagrange interpolation polynomial employed shows spectral-convergence characteristic.

Po-Kuang Chen Annealing-induced interdiffusion effects on the photoluminescent properties of erbium oxide/silicon oxide films deposited on silicon

This study demonstrates the effects of Er/Si interdiffusion caused by rapid thermal annealing on the photoluminescent (PL) properties of Er2O3/SiO2 films. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy measurement shows that the PL enhancement is attributed to the formation of erbium silica, the Er doping in SiO2, and the reduction of defect density.

Chao-Wei Liu Measurements of Thermo-Optic Coefficients in Ta2O5 based micro-ring cavity

Tantalum pentoxide of a large bandgap material has recently utilized to demonstrate nonlinear optical waveguide applications due to its superior linear and nonlinear optical properties. The thermal-optical coefficient of Ta2O5 is ten times of magnitude less than those of conventional III-V semiconductors, indicating Ta2O5 supports the development of thermal-insensitive devices.

TZU-JUNG HUANG Based on Triple-Ring Configuration to Reach Stable Single-Longitudinal-Mode Erbium Fiber Laser

In this paper, a stable and tunable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser with triple-ring structure is proposed. The proposed compound-ring scheme can create different free spectrum ranges (FSRs) to generate the mode-filter for suppressing the multi-mode to obtain SLM oscillation based on Vernier effect.
