How-Wei Liu Dual-wavelength LG01 laser

An actively Q-switched dual-wavelength LG01 laser at 1063 nm and 1064 nm is demonstrated. At 20 W diode power and 0.5 kHz Q-switching rate, the measured pulse energy and pulse width are 115 μJ and 126 ns, respectively.

JerShien Chen Semiconductor Lasers Innovation Patent Analysis based on Laser Structure from 1998 to 2017

In this report, we analyze the semiconductor laser innovation patent with the standard international patent classification (IPC) based on laser structure, i.e. mounting, cooling, coating, wave guide, resonator, and external cavity. We compare patent application from the international corporate, i.e. major from United States, and from Taiwan native institutions.

Chieh Chou On-state Current Saturation Behavior in Core Shell Structure Heterojunction TFET

We study the on-state current saturation behavior in core shell structure heterojunction tunnel field-effect transistor with different core lengths. Results show that the on-state current does not increase proportional to the core length due to the tunnel barrier width in the direction across channel increases as the core length increasing.

Anup Kumar Sahoo Spatial Light Modulator for Single-Pixel Terahertz Imaging Systems based on Compressive Sensing Method

We report progress on liquid – crystal - based terahertz spatial light modulator for single pixel imaging. Here, the finger - type structure of indium tin oxide was fabricated on substrates. The prototype exhibited a modulation depth of 39% when all 9 pixels are operating together as transparent electrode

Wen-Hsuan Kuan Analytic Modeling of Femto/Nano-Second Mode-Locked Fiber Laser by Cubic-Quintic Ginzburg-Landau Equation

We report a passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser with pulsewidth switchable from 714 fs to 76.8 ns as well as dual-width operation. Analytic modeling of the fiber laser with cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation is presented, in which the pulsewidths are calculated as functions of intracavity dispersion, saturable absorption, and self-phase modulation.

Yu-Chung Chiu Machine-diced Long-period Distributed-feedback Optical Parametric Oscillator

We report long-period distributed-feedback optical parametric oscillation at 2.8 μm from a machine-diced 60-μm grating in a PPLN crystal pumped by a laser at 1064 nm.

Chun-Hui Huang Passive mode-locking of a diode-pumped Nd laser based on cascaded second-order nonlinearity

A diode-pumped mode-locking Nd:YVO4/YVO4 laser via positive cascaded second-order Kerr lens and soft aperture effects at 1064 nm was demonstrated. Under 10 W diode pump power, the measured average power, pulse repetition rate and pulse duration are 1.3 W, 175 MHz and 2.8 ps, respectively.

Jhih-Yong Han Speckle Reduction Using Fiber-laser Pumped Nonlinear Photonic Crystals with Double-slit Structures

Using fiber laser pumped the poled quasi-phase matching device with wavelength- and angle-diversity in the transversely-displaced structure, it were observed to reduce the speckle contrast ratio by a factor of about three.
