Measuring the randomness of light fields

Image formation is a random process. The theory of random processes deals with the mathematical description of temporal (or spatial) functions having a structure that cannot be determined in advance. For optics, the wave amplitude emitted by any practical source has properties that change with time and space to some degree. Based on the Van Cittert–Zernike theorem, in this work we reviewed and examined the basic concepts underlying the theory of the coherence phenomena of light fields through a double-slit and grating interference experiment. This work would be expected to have an impact in the realm of lithography, information optics or partial coherence imaging analysis.

Ching-Yao Huang Whole-Surface Power Measurement of Progressive Addition Lenses by Rapid Surface Sweeping Profilometry

This study is to measure whole-surface power distributions of progressive addition lenses by a non-optical surface sweeping technique and to evaluate the accuracy and repeatability of the measured surface qualities. The results show that the surface sweeping technique is possibly comparable to the optical measuring methods.

Kuang-Chuan Li Optical System Design of Scanning Laser Lidar

In this study, we propose a novel Laser Lidar optical system to calculate the distance to a faraway object. We design a Risley prism pair to control the scanning direction of diode laser. Then collect reflected signal into the sensors to calculate the distance between object and Lidar.

Hsin-Feng Hsu THz Image Enhancement Approach based on Transport of Intensity Equation

We implement a simple phase imaging system using a continuous-wave sub-THz source based on transport of intensity equation. This system captures image stacks in seconds. Compared to the obtained optical intensity image, the retrieved phase image is in a close agreement with the sample structure.

Ting-Ming Huang The Assembly of Primary and Secondary Mirrors of a Three-Mirror-Anastigmat Telescope

Three-Mirror-Anastigmat (TMA) telescopes have been widely adopted in remote sensing instruments for its long-focal length feature. A project for TMA has been raised to study the characteristics this kind of telescope. Assembly progress and status of primary and secondary mirrors of the telescope is reported in this paper.
